Accessibility Statement for Lily Maids House Cleaning Service of NYC

Rated 5 stars by New Yorkers in 3 boroughs

Booking a cleaning should not be the hardest part of your day. This page explains what we are doing to make our website usable for everyone, how we accommodate access needs inside your home, and exactly how to reach a person if something on this site gets in your way. If any part of booking is difficult, call us and we will take the booking for you.

Cleaner working through a bright Manhattan living room
Upper West Side Booked by phone, every time

Why this page exists

Maria books for her parents, not for herself.

Maria on the Upper West Side is one of our recurring clients, except the home we clean is not hers. Her elderly parents live alone and can no longer keep up with the scrubbing and mopping, so she arranged the visits. Her parents do not use the booking form. They answer the door, they talk to the cleaners, and they are the ones who need to know who is arriving and when.

That gap between who books and who lives in the home taught us something worth writing down. A cleaning company that only works for people comfortable with an online checkout is leaving out a lot of New Yorkers, including many of the people who need the help most. So we keep more than one door open: book online, book by phone, or send an email and we will handle it from there. We are also working on the site itself, which is what most of this page is about.

"My husband just had knee surgery, and we needed a safe, clean space for him to recover. They focused heavily on sanitizing high-touch areas. I am so grateful for the help through a difficult time."

"My mom recently entered assisted living, and we needed to clear out her apartment. The team was so respectful of her belongings while doing a deep scrub. It made packing up her memories much easier."

Our commitment

What we are working toward.

We are working to make this website conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is our target, not a finished result. We want to be straight with you about the difference.

Automated checking tools catch some problems, but they cannot tell you whether a page actually makes sense to someone using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, or relying on voice control. Full validation requires manual testing with assistive technology and review by accessibility experts. We have not completed that work, so we are not claiming conformance, and we have not put a compliance badge on this page. What we can tell you is what we are doing and where to reach us when we fall short.

We also have not installed an accessibility overlay or widget. Those tools promise a lot and often sit on top of underlying problems rather than fixing them. We would rather put the effort into the markup itself.

On this site

Structure and markup

  • One clear page heading, with sections nested in order
  • Text alternatives written for meaningful images
  • Decorative graphics hidden from screen readers
  • Links that describe where they go
  • Real buttons and links, not clickable boxes
Reading and moving

Visual and keyboard use

  • Body text sized for comfortable reading
  • Visible focus outline on every control
  • Layout reflows down to small screens
  • Motion reduced when your device asks for it
  • Animations that pause on hover, never auto-play sound
Known gaps

Still on our list

  • Third-party booking and map tools we do not control
  • Older images added before our alt text standard
  • Full keyboard testing of the drag-to-shuffle reviews
  • Manual screen reader testing across the whole site
  • Color contrast review on some older pages

The details

Accessibility on the site, and in your home.

Two different things share this page, and both matter. One is whether you can use this website. The other is whether we can work respectfully in a home with access needs.

Booking Alternatives.

Our online booking runs on third-party software, which means parts of it are outside our direct control. If any step of it is difficult, you do not have to fight with it. Call (646) 825-3550 and we will take the whole booking over the phone, including your address, access instructions, service choice, and any coupon code. You can also email support@lilymaidhousecleaningservices.com and we will reply with the details in writing so nothing depends on remembering a conversation. Booking by phone costs the same as booking online, and the satisfaction guarantee applies either way.

Inside the home

Working With Access Needs.

A clean home is not helpful if it becomes harder to move through. When you tell us about mobility aids, low vision, hearing loss, sensory sensitivities, or anything else that shapes how a visit should go, we build the visit around it. That means walkways and thresholds stay clear, furniture and grab bars go back exactly where they were, and nothing gets rearranged without asking first. For clients with low vision especially, an object moved two feet is a genuine problem, not a small one. Add the details to your booking notes or tell us on the phone, and see preparing for your cleaning for what else helps us.

How we communicate

Contact Preferences.

Tell us how you want to hear from us and we will use that channel. Some clients want a text before the team arrives so an unexpected doorbell is not startling. Some want a phone call instead. Some want everything in email so there is a written record. Some want us to speak with a family member or care coordinator rather than the person whose home we are cleaning, which is exactly how Maria's arrangement works. Note it once and it stays on your account, including on recurring plans.

Products and sensitivities

Supplies and Sensitivities.

Strong cleaning smells are a real barrier for people with asthma, migraines, chemical sensitivities, or scent triggers. Our teams bring their own supplies, and we can use lower-scent products on request. If a particular product works for you and nothing else does, leave it out with a note and the team will use yours instead. If you need windows open, fans running, or a gap between our visit and your return, tell us and we will build that into the schedule. This applies to any service, from a single one-time cleaning to a deep clean.

Walk-ups and elevators Tell us the building rules

Getting in the door

Building Access.

New York buildings each have their own rules, and some of them affect you more than us. If reaching the intercom is difficult, if the service entrance is the only step-free route, or if the elevator needs a reservation, tell us at booking and we will plan around it rather than calling up from the sidewalk. Doorman handoff, lockbox, and smart-lock codes all work, and you do not need to be home. We coordinate with front desks so you are not the one relaying messages. For a service-area business like ours, note that our Wall Street address is an office, not a walk-in location, so please call or email rather than travelling to us.

The work

Homes across three boroughs.

Tell us what is not working.

If you hit a barrier on this website, or you need information from a page in a different format, we want to hear about it. Tell us which page, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. If you use assistive technology, naming it helps us reproduce the problem.

By phone

Call us

Reach a person at (646) 825-3550. This is the fastest route, and the same number handles bookings, so you can report a problem and book a cleaning in one call.

By email

Send details to support@lilymaidhousecleaningservices.com. Email works well for describing a specific page or attaching a screenshot, and it gives you a written record.

By form

Use the contact page

The form on our contact page reaches the same inbox. If the form itself is the barrier, please call instead and tell us, since that is exactly the kind of thing we need to know.

Questions and answers

Accessibility, question by question.

Every answer is open by default, so nothing is hidden behind a click. Our full FAQ page covers cleaning questions, and the satisfaction guarantee explains what happens if a visit is not right.

Is this website fully accessible? 01

No, and we are not going to claim otherwise. We are working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and parts of the site meet that target while others do not. Full validation requires manual testing with assistive technology plus expert review, which we have not completed. The known gaps are listed higher up this page. If you find one we have not listed, please tell us.

Can I book a cleaning without using the website? 02

Yes. Call (646) 825-3550 and we will take the entire booking by phone, or email support@lilymaidhousecleaningservices.com and we will arrange it in writing. Same pricing, same coupon codes, same guarantee. You never have to complete the online form to become a client.

Do you use an accessibility widget or overlay? 03

No. We have not installed an overlay, and you will not find a floating accessibility button on this site. Those tools often layer adjustments on top of markup problems rather than resolving them, and they can interfere with the assistive technology you already have configured. We would rather fix the underlying pages.

Will the cleaners move my furniture or mobility equipment? 04

Not without asking. If something has to move so we can clean under or behind it, it goes back exactly where it was. Walkways, thresholds, and clear floor space stay clear while we work. If you rely on things being in fixed positions, say so in your booking notes and the team will treat that as part of the job, not a preference.

Can you use unscented or lower-scent products? 05

Yes, on request. Our teams bring their own supplies and can use lower-scent options. If a specific product is the only one that works in your home, leave it out with a note and we will use yours. Tell us if you need windows open, fans running, or time before you return to the space, and we will plan the visit around that.

How should I tell you about an access need? 06

Whatever way is easiest. Add it to the notes field when you book online, mention it on the phone, or send it by email. Once it is on your account it carries forward to future visits, including recurring plans, so you do not have to explain it every time. You are never required to share a diagnosis or medical detail, only what affects the visit.

Can someone else manage the booking on a client's behalf? 07

Yes. Family members, care coordinators, and building staff arrange cleanings with us regularly, which is how Maria's arrangement for her parents works. Tell us who should receive scheduling messages and who will be present at the home, and we will keep those separate on your account.

Can I visit your office? 08

We would rather you did not travel. Our address at 101 Wall Street is a working office for a service-area business, not a customer-facing location, and we cannot promise the visit would be useful to you. Everything we handle in person can be handled by phone or email instead. The map lower on this page shows the area we serve, not a walk-in storefront.

When was this statement last reviewed? 09

We review this page when we make significant changes to the site, and we update the known-gaps list as items are resolved or discovered. Accessibility work is ongoing rather than a project with an end date, so treat this statement as current practice rather than a finished audit. Feedback from clients is the main thing that moves items onto the list.
