House Cleaning Service Upper East Side, New York City
Pre-war co-ops with radiator dust, walk-ups in Yorkville, glass condos above East 86th - the Upper East Side is a specific kind of clean, and we've been doing it for years. Lily Maids is the house cleaning service Upper East Side residents call when they want insured, background-checked cleaners, a flat price up front, and a team that already knows how your building handles service entrances. Book online in about 60 seconds.
A real Upper East Side story
Sarah K. was eight months pregnant. And done.
Sarah called us from Lenox Hill on a Tuesday. She wanted a proper "nesting" clean before her due date - nursery, master bedroom, the whole thing sanitized - and she physically could not do it herself anymore. She was too tired to lift a finger, and honestly, at eight months nobody should be down on their knees behind a radiator.
Our team went room by room. Nursery first, since that mattered most to her. Baseboards, window sills, closet shelves, the inside of the dresser drawers, then the master bedroom top to bottom. She told us afterward she could finally just sit down and wait for the baby, knowing her home was spotless and safe.
That call is pretty typical of what a house cleaning service Upper East Side families actually need. Sometimes it's a life event. Sometimes it's just a work week that ate your whole weekend. Lily Maids is a locally owned team of insured, background-checked cleaners working across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, and the Upper East Side is one of our busiest corners of the city. Whether you want a one-off reset, a deep cleaning that finally deals with winter's radiator dust, or a recurring plan that keeps things handled, the process is the same: pick a time, see a flat price, come home to clean.

Our services
Every clean your Upper East Side home could need.
From a studio off Second Avenue to a classic six on Park, the buildings up here vary wildly and so does what they need. Pick the service that fits, book online, and we handle the rest. See pricing or how it works.
The every-visit baseline
Standard Basic Cleaning on the UES.
This is the one most people book first. A Standard Basic Cleaning covers the kitchen (counters, backsplash, stovetop, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts, sink scrubbed and polished), the bathrooms (tub, shower, tile, toilet inside and out, vanity, mirror, fixtures), and every living area and bedroom - surfaces dusted, mirrors and glass done, beds made, floors vacuumed and mopped, trash out.
What makes it different up here is the dust. Pre-war buildings on Park and Fifth run on steam heat, and once the city's heat season kicks in on October 1st, radiators push fine grit onto every horizontal surface in the apartment. Our teams work top-down for exactly that reason - high surfaces first, floors last - so the dust ends up in the vacuum instead of settling back on your coffee table twenty minutes after we leave. See the full standard cleaning checklist for the room-by-room breakdown.
Almost everyone up here rents or owns an apartment
Apartment Cleaning that fits the building.
Its the tight galley kitchens that slow most cleaners down. Four feet of counter, a stove wedged against a wall, a fridge you can't fully open without shutting a cabinet - that's a normal Upper East Side kitchen, and it takes a different approach than a suburban one. Our apartment cleaning crews are trained for compact bathrooms, hex-tile floors with real grout lines, and closets that hold three seasons of clothing at once.
The building side matters just as much. On Park, Fifth, and most of Madison, we come through the service entrance and reserve the freight elevator ahead of time. Many co-ops want a certificate of insurance on file before a vendor sets foot inside - tell us your managing agent and we send the COI directly, no back and forth for you. Yorkville walk-ups east of First get the same treatment minus the paperwork, and there's no stair surcharge. Our apartment cleaning pairs nicely with a recurring schedule if you'd rather stop thinking about it entirely.

Top to bottom, inside out
Deep Cleaning for older buildings.
Every apartment up here has places the weekly wipe-down never reaches. Inside the oven and the fridge. Behind and under furniture. Baseboards, door frames, window sills, light fixtures, cabinet interiors, and the packed grit behind and under radiators that builds all winter long.
Deep Cleaning is also the honest answer when someone tells us their apartment "smells musty but looks fine." Closed-up city apartments trap dust and dander, and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America points out that soft surfaces and bedding are where dust mite allergens concentrate most. So a deep clean here means mattresses vacuumed, upholstery done, and a seperate cloth for every bathroom so nothing travels between rooms. It's the smart first visit before starting a recurring plan, and it's what most people mean when they ask about spring cleaning. See what a deep cleaning includes.
Residential only, on purpose
Residential Cleaning is all we do.
We don't clean offices or retail. Residential Cleaning is the whole business, and that focus shows up in small ways: we know which surfaces in a pre-war apartment can't take a harsh product, we know parquet and herringbone floors need a damp mop and not a wet one, and we know that plaster walls mark if you lean a vacuum hose against them.
One thing that that surprises people is how much of residential work is really about trust. You're handing a stranger a key to the place where your kids sleep. Every Lily Maids cleaner is background-checked and insured before they ever work a job, and we send the same person or pair back to you whenever the schedule allows, so you're not re-explaining your apartment every couple weeks.
The classic arrangement
Maid Service without the guesswork.
Plenty of Upper East Side households have had a housekeeper for years and just need someone reliable again. Our Maid Service is the closest thing to that: a trained, insured cleaner following a written checklist, arriving in a window you choose, with text updates before they show up.
The difference from an informal arrangement is that nothing depends on one person's memory. If your regular cleaner is sick, someone else covers the visit and works the same list, so your apartment doesn't skip a week. We work around your buildings rules on staff hours - many co-ops here don't allow vendor work after 5pm or on Sundays, and we schedule accordingly. Full details on the maid service page.
Before the keys change hands
Move in and Move out Cleaning done right.
After the movers leave the apartment always looks worse than you expect. Dust outlines where the sofa was, scuffs along the hallway, and a kitchen you never really cleaned behind. Our move-out cleaning follows the same list landlords and managing agents use at the final walkthrough: inside the oven, inside the fridge, inside every cabinet and drawer, closet shelves, window sills, baseboards, and the bathroom scrubbed back to bare.
That matters financially. New York gives renters a real claim on their deposit - the New York Attorney General's office explains that a landlord can only withhold money for damage beyond normal wear and tear, and a documented professional clean removes the easiest excuse for a deduction. Moving in instead? Book move-in cleaning for the day before your boxes arrive so your first night is in a genuinely clean apartment. We also handle turnover cleaning and rental property cleaning for owners and agents. Tell us about the freight elevator reservation when you book, and use code MOVE30 to save $30.

Ongoing care
Recurring Cleaning that stays ahead of it.
The best-kept apartments up here aren't cleaned harder, they're cleaned regularly. Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly recurring plans put home care on the calendar before the to-do list swallows it. Recurring clients also recieve the lowest per-visit rate we offer, since we're not re-fighting a month of buildup each time.
It's the most common plan for two kinds of Upper East Side households: families near Carl Schurz Park and Asphalt Green with kids in and out all day, and adult children arranging steady help for a parent who's still in the apartment they've had for forty years. Stephanie C. books us weekly for her father for exactly that reason - the heavy scrubbing and mopping he can't safely do anymore.
Just this once
One Time Cleaning with zero strings.
Not everyone wants a schedule. A One Time Cleaning is a single visit, flat price, no subscription and no cancellation dance afterward. It's definately the easiest way to try us out before deciding whether you want us back.
People book one-time visits for the obvious reasons - guests landing tomorrow, a party last night, a Thanksgiving table for fifteen - and for less obvious ones too. Daniel H. booked a single deep visit before a real estate open house because bright floors and clean windows make an apartment read larger to buyers. Brian T. booked one just for the spare room he was turning into a home office. Whatever the reason, see the one-time cleaning page for what's included.

Three more ways we show up.
Same crews, same checklist discipline, different situations. All three are bookable for any Upper East Side address.

Housekeeping Service
Ongoing help with the everyday running of a home: laundry cycled, beds changed, kitchen reset, bathrooms kept up, floors done. Housekeeping Service suits households where a monthly clean isn't enough and someone needs to keep the place actually functioning week to week. Most clients pair it with a weekly or bi-weekly slot.
Housekeeping
Same Day Cleaning Service
In-laws landing at LaGuardia in five hours, which is roughly the call Jessica M. made. Same Day Cleaning Service depends on that day's route and how close our nearest team is, and occassionally we're already full - but between Lenox Hill and Yorkville we can often get someone to you. Call rather than book online if it's urgent.
Same-day cleaning
AirBnB Cleaning Service
Guest-out, guest-in turnovers on a tight window: linens stripped and remade, bathroom reset, kitchen restocked to your checklist, trash out, and photos sent if you want proof. AirBnB Cleaning Service works best with a lockbox or smart lock so we're not waiting on a handoff between bookings.
Rental cleaningAnd a few more.
Post-renovation dust, morning-after party cleanups, seasonal refreshes, landlord turnovers. If it needs cleaning on the Upper East Side, odds are good we do it.

"I was moving out of my Upper East Side rental and didn't have the energy to do the final scrub-down. This house cleaning service handled the end-of-lease cleaning perfectly, getting into all the nooks and crannies of the oven and bathroom tiles. Thanks to them, I got my full security deposit back without any issues from the landlord."
"I was hosting my daughter's 5th birthday party at our Upper East Side home and the house was trashed from the preparations. The crew came in for a thorough house cleaning just hours before the guests arrived, focusing on the living room and play area. The result was a perfectly clean and safe space for the kids to run around and have fun."
"After a major renovation on the Upper East Side, my apartment was covered in a thick layer of construction dust. This company provided an amazing post-reno house cleaning that removed every last bit of debris from the floors and countertops. It finally feels like a home again rather than a construction site."
"I'm a lawyer working 80-hour weeks, and my Upper East Side apartment had fallen into a state of total disarray. This house cleaning service not only organized my clutter but also deep-cleaned the bathroom to get rid of mold and soap scum. My home is now a sanctuary where I can actually unwind after a long day."
"My mother was discharged from the hospital, and I needed her Upper East Side home to be absolutely sterile and safe before she returned. The team performed a compassionate and thorough house cleaning, focusing on sanitizing high-touch surfaces and the kitchen. It gave me immense peace of mind to bring her back to such a clean and healthy environment."
"I was preparing my Upper East Side apartment for a real estate open house to sell it. The service provided a spectacular deep house cleaning that made the hardwood floors shine and the windows crystal clear. The space looked so much brighter and larger, which really impressed the potential buyers."
"I set up a home office in a spare room on the Upper East Side, but the space was so dusty and cluttered I couldn't concentrate. I booked a house cleaning specifically to clear and clean that room, and they did an amazing job organizing the books and sanitizing the desk. Now I can take Zoom calls in a professional-looking environment."
"We were hosting Thanksgiving for 15 people at our Upper East Side apartment, and I was overwhelmed by the pre-holiday chaos. This house cleaning service came in and did a magnificent job on the kitchen and dining room, polishing the silver and making the floors gleam. The result was a stunning, stress-free setting for our family feast."
"After going through a tough breakup, I simply lacked the motivation to handle the cleaning alone in my Upper East Side place. I hired them for a basic house cleaning, and the team was so respectful and efficient, making my apartment feel like a fresh start. The clean space has been essential for helping me heal and move forward."

Questions and answers
The details before you book.
These are the questions Upper East Side clients ask us most, especially the co-op and building ones. Every answer is open by default, so nothing hides behind a click. Still curious? Our full FAQ page goes deeper.
What is included in a house cleaning service on the Upper East Side? 01
A standard visit covers the kitchen (counters, backsplash, stovetop, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts, sink), the bathrooms (tub, shower, tile, toilet, vanity, mirror, fixtures), and all living areas and bedrooms - dusting, surfaces wiped, mirrors and glass, beds made - plus vacuuming and mopping throughout and trash removal. Deep cleaning adds the inside of the oven and fridge, cabinet interiors, baseboards, window sills, door frames, light fixtures, and behind and under furniture and radiators. Full detail is on the standard cleaning checklist and the complete cleaning checklist.
Can you send a certificate of insurance to my co-op board? 02
Yes, and we do it constantly - most pre-war buildings between Park and Fifth require one before any vendor works in the building. Give us your managing agent's name and email at booking and we send the COI directly to them, usually the same day. If your building has a specific form or wants to be named as an additional insured, tell us and we handle that too. You shouldn't have to chase paperwork to get your apartment cleaned.
Do you use the service entrance and freight elevator? 03
Always, in buildings that require it. Our teams know that on most of Fifth, Park, and Madison, vendors enter through the service door and ride the freight - and that the freight often needs to be reserved with the super in advance. Note the requirement in your booking and we'll confirm with the front desk before the visit. In Yorkville and the walk-ups east of First, none of this applies, and there's no extra charge for stairs no matter what floor you're on.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning? 04
No, and most clients aren't. Doorman handoff is the most common arrangement up here - you leave a key at the front desk and we sign it in and out. Lockbox or a smart-lock code works too. Add access instructions in your booking notes and we coordinate with the desk directly. See preparing for your cleaning for a short pre-visit rundown.
Can I book same-day cleaning on the Upper East Side? 05
Often, yes - it comes down to that day's route and how close our nearest team is. Between Lenox Hill and Yorkville we can usually find a slot. Guests landing tonight? Call (646) 825-3550 rather than booking online and we'll tell you the earliest team we can get to your address. More on the same-day cleaning page. Booking a day or two ahead always gives you more choice of arrival window.
How does move-out cleaning work in a rental up here? 06
Your apartment should be empty, or nearly so, so we can reach inside cabinets, the oven, the fridge, closet shelves, and every corner an agent checks at the walkthrough. Tell us about the freight elevator reservation and any building move-out hours when you book. Follow the move-out cleaning checklist to see the full scope, and remember code MOVE30 takes $30 off any move-in or move-out cleaning.
Why is my apartment so dusty even though I clean it? 07
Steam heat, usually. Pre-war radiators push fine grit into the air every time they cycle, and in a closed-up apartment it settles on every flat surface within a day. Running an air purifier helps, but the real fix is cleaning top-down and getting behind and under the radiators a few times a year, which is exactly what a deep cleaning covers. Older windows on the avenue side add street soot on top of that, so sills and tracks are worth doing seasonally.
What if I am not happy with the clean? 08
Tell us within 24 hours and we come back and re-clean the areas in question at no charge. That holds on every visit, in every building. Read the full satisfaction guarantee for how it works.
