A lot of these buildings went up more than a hundred years ago - the Tenement Museum on Orchard Street shows you exactly what the old floor plans looked like, and plenty of them are still in use. That means narrow hallways, one small bathroom, a kitchen where the counter is also the prep table, and windowsills that collect street grit within days. Every surface in a small apartment works overtime, so a light wipe never really cuts it.
Our cleaners are used to it. They work in a tight order so nothing gets missed, they bring their own supplies up the the fifth floor without complaining, and they never charge extra for stairs. What is included in a standard house cleaning on the Lower East Side? 01
Every standard visit covers the kitchen (counters, stovetop, sink, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts), the bathroom (tub, shower, toilet, vanity, mirror), all living areas and bedrooms (dusting, surfaces, mirrors, beds made), plus vacuuming and mopping throughout and trash taken out. Do you charge extra for a fifth-floor walk-up? 02
No. Stairs are part of life down here, and we do not add a fee for them. Our cleaners carry their own supplies and equipment up, so you do not need to keep anything in the apartment. Just tell us the floor and the buzzer or lockbox code when you book so nobody is standing on the sidewalk.
Do you bring cleaning supplies? 03
Yes, every time. Prefer greener products because of kids, pets, or a small apartment with little airflow? Ask for EPA Safer Choice certified products in your booking notes and thats what we will use. If you have a favorite product for one specific surface, leave it out with a note and the team will use it there.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning? 04
No. Most LES clients are at work while we clean. Doorman handoff on Grand Street, a lockbox on Ludlow, or a smart-lock code all work fine - just add access instructions in your booking notes. Your apartment should be empty, or nearly empty, so we can get inside cabinets, inside the oven, inside the fridge and into every corner a landlord checks at the walkthrough. Old buildings hide grime in odd places - behind radiators, along baseboards, in the gap beside the tub - and we plan time for that. Can you clean after a renovation or a leak? 07
Yes. Construction dust settles on every surface and it needs a real deep clean, not a wipe-down - Justin P. found that out after his renovation. Water damage is similar: the area has to be dried and sanitized properly, which is what we did for Lauren S. after her basement leak. Can you sanitize after someone in the apartment was sick? 08
Yes. After a cold or flu makes the rounds, we focus on high-touch surfaces: door handles, light switches, faucets, remotes and bathroom fixtures - in line with everyday CDC hygiene guidance. Add a note at booking and we will prioritize disinfection over the cosmetic stuff.
