How It Works: Booking a House Cleaning Service in New York City
There's no phone tag, no walkthrough appointment, and no vague "sometime between 8 and 5." You pick your home size, pick a cleaning type, pick a day, and see the flat price before you confirm. Then an insured, background-checked team shows up in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens and does the work. Thats the whole process, start to finish, in about 60 seconds of your time.
A real Lily Maids booking
David booked in his lunch break. We did the rest.
David M. on the Upper West Side had his in-laws landing that afternoon and an apartment he described, generously, as "in disarray." He didn't call around for quotes. He opened the booking form on his phone, picked a 2 bed / 1 bath, chose a one-time cleaning, saw his price, and hit confirm. Total time: under two minutes.
Our team was in the building a few hours later. His words after: "This team swooped in and delivered the most thorough home cleaning I've ever seen; my place was spotless and smelled amazing before they even rang the doorbell." That's really all our process is meant to do - take the panic out of a day, without making you sit through a sales call first. Below we walk through every stage, what happens on cleaning day, what each service actually covers, and what it costs. You can also skip ahead and just book a cleaning or read the full cleaning checklist.

Booked it. Loved it. Said so.

"Moving out of our loft was overwhelming. They managed an incredible end-of-lease home cleaning, getting every last bit of dust and grime out of the kitchen, and we got our full deposit back with no issues."
"I was hosting my first big Thanksgiving and drowning in prep. Their meticulous cleaning of the entire apartment, especially the dining area and guest bathroom, took all the stress off my shoulders."

The process
Three steps, one clean home.
People ask us all the time how it works when you've never hired cleaners before. Honestly it's simpler than ordering furniture. Here's each stage, plainly.
Tell us about your place
Open the booking form and choose bedrooms, bathrooms, and the type of clean you want. Add anything extra - inside the fridge, inside the oven, interior windows, laundry. The flat price updates as you go, so theres no estimate that changes later. Pick your date and arrival window, drop in access notes for the doorman or lockbox, and confirm. Most people finish in under a minute.
We confirm and show up
You get an email confirmation right away with the full scope and price. Before the visit you get a text so you know when the team is on the way. We handle doormen, freight elevator rules and walk-ups on our own - you don't need to be there. Our cleaners are insured, background-checked, and they bring all the supplies and equipment with them, so nothing needs to be waiting in your closet.
You check the work
The team works room by room off a set checklist, not off memory. When they're done, the trash goes out following your building's rules and the door locks behind them. Walk in, take a look, and if something got missed just tell us within 24 hours and we come back to re-clean that area free. Loved it? Turn it into a recurring plan in two clicks.
Pick your cleaning type
Same process, five choices.
The booking flow is identical whichever one you pick. Hover an image to see the service, click to explore it. Tap once on mobile to preview, tap again to open.
What you can book
Every service, and what happens.
Each of these is a real line item in the booking form. Pick one and the checklist, the timing and the price all adjust to match. Compare them on the pricing page or start on the NYC house cleaning homepage.
Most people start here
Apartment Cleaning.
When you choose apartment cleaning, the form asks for bedrooms and bathrooms because that's what actually drives the work - not square footage on a lease. A studio in Sunnyside and a two-bedroom in Park Slope get the same checklist, just different time on site. Our teams are used to narrow galley kitchens, hallway carts, service elevators and buildings that only allow loading between certain hours. Full details live on the apartment cleaning service page.
Ongoing, familiar, easy
Maid Service.
Maid service is the same trained crew coming back on a rhythm you set. After the first visit we keep notes on your home - which cabinet the linens live in, the buzzer that sticks, the rug that can't get wet. You approve those notes, and every visit after runs off them. It's the easiest option if you just want to stop thinking about housework entirely. Read more about maid service in NYC, or see the exact task list under what a standard cleaning includes.

The big one
Deep Cleaning.
Deep cleaning adds hours and adds tasks: inside the oven and fridge, cabinet interiors, baseboards, door frames, light fixtures, behind and under furniture, and that grey radiator dust every pre-war apartment collects by February. Nicole on the Upper East Side booked one purely for allergies, and dust plus dander is a real thing in closed-up city apartments - the US EPA has good plain-language guidance on indoor air. When you select deep clean in the form, the time block widens automatically so the team isnt rushed. See what a deep cleaning includes.
Before the keys change hands
Move in and Move out Cleaning.
Booking a move clean works a little different, so read this bit. The home should be empty or nearly empty so we can reach inside cabinets, the oven, the fridge and the closet floors. Tell us at booking if you have a freight elevator reservation, a certificate of insurance requirement, or a hard stop time - we build the schedule around it. Sarah K. in Williamsburg used move-out cleaning and got her full deposit back. Moving in instead? Book move-in cleaning before the boxes land. Tenants unsure what a landlord can hold back should check the NYC Housing Preservation & Development site. Code MOVE30 takes $30 off, and the move-out checklist shows the scope.
Set it once
Recurring Cleaning.
Choose weekly, bi-weekly or monthly at checkout and the visits get created for you - no re-booking each time, and the plan discount is applied automatically. Skipping a week because you're traveling is fine, just move or cancel that visit under the terms in our rescheduling policy. Robert T. set this up for his mother in Battery Park City so she never has to arrange anything herself. Compare the schedules on the recurring cleaning service page.
More options in the booking form
Other ways it works.
These all use the exact same three steps. Only the checklist and the time on site change.
Standard Basic Cleaning
The default option, and what most first-timers pick. Kitchen surfaces, bathrooms sanitized, dusting throughout, floors vacuumed and mopped, beds made, trash out. It keeps an already-maintained home in shape. If the place hasn't had a proper clean in six months or more, we'd honestly steer you to a deep clean first.
See the standard checklist >Residential Cleaning
Everything we do is residential - apartments, brownstone floors, walk-ups, condos, co-ops and small houses in the outer boroughs. No offices, no construction sites, no biohazard work. That focus is why our crews already know how NYC buildings run before they get to your door.
See all NYC cleaning services >One Time Cleaning
No plan, no commitment, no card on file for future visits. Book a single clean for a birthday, an open house, the day after a party, or just because. Daniel C. in Forest Hills books one for the day his flights land. It's the same crew and same standard as a recurring visit.
One-time cleaning >Housekeeping Service
Light, regular upkeep rather than a full reset - tidy, surfaces, kitchen, baths, floors, laundry as an add-on. Good for people who work from home and want the place reset every week without the disruption of a long visit. Add notes about which rooms matter most and we prioritize them.
Housekeeping & maid service >Same Day Cleaning Service
Sometimes possible, depends entirely on that day's schedule and where you are. Book online and we'll confirm the earliest team, or call (646) 825-3550 and we'll tell you straight away if we can make it. A day or two of notice always gets you more choice of times.
Same-day cleaning >AirBnB Cleaning Service
Turnovers between guests, on a repeatable checklist: linens, bathrooms, kitchen reset, restock check, trash out per building rules. Hosts book a standing slot so the unit is ready before the next check-in. Works for one unit or several across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
Short-term rental cleaning >One more thing about trash. New York put-out rules changed, and buildings enforce them differently. Our teams bag everything and place it where your building says it goes - chute, basement room, or curbside inside the window your super gives us. If you're curious about the citywide set-out times, the NYC Department of Sanitation publishes them. Just leave a note at booking if your building has it's own quirks, we'd rather know upfront.
Not sure which service you need? Tell us the situation in the booking notes - guests tomorrow, lease ends Friday, baby due in three weeks - and we'll flag it if you picked the wrong one before we charge you. You can also check the full FAQ or contact us.

Questions and answers
Everything else about the process.
Answers are open by default, nothing hidden behind a click. If your question isn't here, the full FAQ page goes deeper, or just send us a message.
How do I actually book a cleaning? 01
Online, in about a minute. Go to book now, pick bedrooms and bathrooms, pick the cleaning type, add any extras, choose your date and arrival window, and confirm. You'll see the flat price the whole time. If you'd rather talk it through, call (646) 825-3550 and we'll book it for you over the phone.
What happens after I confirm? 02
You get an email confirmation right away showing the service, the scope and the price. Before your visit you'll get a text letting you know the team is on the way. If anything changes on our side - traffic, a building holding up the elevator - we tell you rather than leaving you guessing.
Do I need to be home? 03
Nope, and most clients aren't. Doorman handoff, lockbox, or a smart-lock code all work fine - just put the access details in your booking notes. We deal with front desks and building rules ourselves. There's a short rundown of what to do before we arrive on preparing for your cleaning.
Do you bring supplies and equipment? 04
Yes, everything comes with the team - products, cloths, vacuum, mop. You don't need to buy or store anything. If you want green products because of kids, pets or allergies, ask in your notes. And if there's a specific product you love for a specific surface, leave it out with a note and we'll use that instead.
How long does a cleaning take? 05
It depends on size and type. A studio standard clean is quick; a three-bedroom deep clean or an empty move-out takes a good chunk of the day. Because we price by the job and not the hour, the team stays until the checklist is finished - they aren't watching a timer.
Can I reschedule or cancel? 06
Yes. Plans change, we get it. Move or cancel a visit under the terms in our cancellation and rescheduling policy. On a recurring plan you can skip a single visit without ending the plan - handy if you're away for a week.
What if something gets missed? 07
Tell us within 24 hours and we come back and re-clean those areas at no charge. That applies to every visit, every service, every borough. The full terms are on our satisfaction guarantee page.
