Our Cleaning Team in New York City

Rated 5 stars by New Yorkers in 3 boroughs

You are letting someone into your home, often while you're not there. That's not a small thing, and we don't treat it like one. Every cleaner on our team is insured and background-checked, trained on the same room-by-room checklist, and used to the realities of NYC buildings. Over 1,200 homes across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, and a 5.0 rating built one visit at a time.

Astoria Handled with care

A real Lily Maids story

Robert didn't thank us for the scrubbing.

Robert M. in Astoria had just moved his elderly parents into assisted living. Their old apartment needed a full deep clean before family came by, and there were years of buildup to deal with. Hard week for everybody involved. When he wrote to us afterward he mentioned the grime almost in passing. What he actually wanted to say was that the team treated his parents' home with care and respect.

That's the part of this work that doesn't fit on a checklist, and its the part we care most about. Anybody can be taught the right order to clean a bathroom. Far fewer people can walk into a stranger's apartment during the worst week of thier year and handle it like it matters. When we're deciding who joins the team, that judgment counts as much as speed does.

The rest of this page is about what we do to make that consistent rather than lucky. If you'd rather see the work itself, our cleaning checklist and reviews cover it, and how it works explains the booking side.

Before anyone works in your home

How people join the team.

No one is sent to a client's apartment on their first day. The order matters, and it's the same for everyone.

1

Vetting and background check

Every cleaner completes a background check before a first visit, and every cleaner is covered by our insurance. This part isn't negotiable and there are no exceptions for busy weeks.

2

Trained on our checklist

New team members learn the same room-by-room standard every client is promised, plus how we handle products, surfaces, and the things that go wrong. See the checklist they work from.

3

Working alongside the team

They start on visits with experienced cleaners before running their own. That's how the standard actually transfers, rather than living in a document nobody reads twice.

What the team brings

Experience you notice in the details.

Cleaning well in this city is a specific skill. Small rooms, old buildings, strict schedules, and no margin for a wasted hour. Here's what our teams are genuinely good at.

Same standard, every visit Kitchens · baths · floors

Consistency

One checklist, no guesswork.

The most common complaint people have about cleaning services isn't a bad clean, it's an inconsistent one. Great in January, forgettable by March. Our teams follow the same standard cleaning scope on every visit, which means the fifth clean should look like the first one.

Where you'll see real experience is in what gets noticed. A cleaner who has done a thousand NYC bathrooms spots the grout line, the underside of the faucet, and the hinge on the shower door without being asked. That's not a training document, that's hours on the job.

Local knowledge

They know NYC buildings.

A big part of this job happens before anyone picks up a cloth. Signing in at a front desk, using the service elevator instead of the passenger one, working around a reserved freight window, carrying supplies up five flights in a walk-up with no complaints about it.

Our teams do this daily, in pre-war co-ops on the Upper East Side, converted lofts in Williamsburg, and towers in Long Island City. It means less coordination on your end. Leave access notes when you book and the rest is handled, as covered in preparing for your cleaning.

Range

Not just one kind of clean.

The same team handles a routine maid service visit, a full deep cleaning with the oven and fridge, and an empty apartment move-out before a landlord walkthrough. Those are genuinely different jobs with different pacing, and knowing which one you're on is part of the skill.

They also work with the products the situation calls for. We bring everything, including EPA Safer Choice certified options when a client has kids, pets, or a sensitivity. Industry standards for professional cleaning are worth a look if you're curious what that training covers, and the ISSA is the main body publishing them.

Same team when possible Recurring clients first

Familiarity

The same faces, when we can.

For clients on a recurring plan we try to send the same team each visit. It's better for everyone. They already know your building, your layout, the cabinet that sticks, and the two things you care about most. You stop having to explain yourself every other week.

We say "when possible" deliberately, because people take vacations and get sick and schedules move. What doesn't change is the standard, since every cleaner works from the same checklist. If a visit ever falls short, tell us within 24 hours and we come back and re-clean the areas in question at no charge, per our satisfaction guarantee.

How the team works

Four things we hold to.

Less a mission statement, more the four things that come up every week when we're deciding how to handle something.

Treat the home like it's occupied

Even on an empty move-out, someone's deposit or first night is riding on the result. Nothing gets rushed because nobody's watching, and anything that breaks gets reported the same day rather than hoped over.

Say the awkward thing early

If a job is bigger than the booking allows for, the team tells you during the visit instead of quietly skipping rooms. You'd rather hear it while we're there than notice it after we've gone.

Respect the building and the neighbors

Front desk rules, freight elevator windows, quiet hours, and shared hallways. We follow them without being reminded, because your relationship with your building outlasts any single cleaning.

Fix it rather than defend it

Nobody cleans over a thousand homes without an occasional visit missing the mark. When that happens we come back and re-clean at no charge. See the satisfaction guarantee for how it works.

Questions and answers

What clients ask about our cleaners.

Fair questions about the people entering your home, answered in full and open by default. Nothing hidden behind a click. More on the FAQ page.

Are your cleaners insured and background-checked? 01

Yes, both, and it applies to everyone on the team without exception. A background check is completed before a first client visit, and our insurance covers the work. If you'd like to confirm any of this before booking, call (646) 825-3550 and ask, we'd rather answer than have you wonder.

Will I get the same cleaner every time? 02

On a recurring plan we aim to send the same team each visit, and usually manage it. We say "aim" honestly, because vacations, illness, and schedule changes happen. The standard doesn't change with the person, since everyone works from the same checklist.

Do I need to be home while they clean? 03

No, and most clients aren't. Doorman handoff, lockbox, or a smart-lock code all work fine. Add access instructions in your booking notes and the team coordinates with the front desk directly. See preparing for your cleaning for the short pre-visit rundown.

How much experience do your cleaners have? 04

It varies by person, and we won't pretend otherwise. What is consistent is that everyone is trained on our checklist and works alongside experienced cleaners before running visits alone. Between them the team has cleaned over 1,200 homes across 45+ NYC neighborhoods.

Do they bring their own supplies? 05

Yes, everything. You never need to stock a thing. If you prefer green products because of kids, pets, or a sensitivity, ask for EPA Safer Choice certified options in your booking notes. If you have a product you swear by for a particular surface, leave it out with a note and the team will use it.

What if something gets damaged during a visit? 06

Tell us and we'll deal with it properly. Our teams are instructed to report anything that breaks or goes wrong the same day rather than leave you to find it. The work is insured, so contact us at (646) 825-3550 or support@lilymaidhousecleaningservices.com and we'll take it from there.

What if I'm not happy with the cleaner or the clean? 07

Tell us within 24 hours and we come back and re-clean the areas in question at no charge, per our satisfaction guarantee. If a particular team just isn't the right fit for your home, say so and we'll send different people next visit. No awkwardness required.
