Rated 5 stars by movers in 3 boroughs

Moving day here is its own kind of chaos. A two-hour freight elevator window, boxes in the hallway, and a landlord walkthrough already on the calendar. Lily Maids handles the part nobody wants to do at 11pm: the empty apartment scrub. Inside the oven, inside the fridge, inside every cabinet and closet, baseboards, window sills, and floors. Insured, background-checked cleaners, a flat price before you book, and openings across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

A real Lily Maids story

David had one afternoon. We had a checklist.

David K. had been working sixty-hour weeks in Park Slope, and by his own admission his apartment had not seen a real clean in months. Then the end of his lease showed up on the calendar. He needed an end-of-lease clean and a full move-out cleaning to protect his security deposit, and he had exactly one afternoon between the movers leaving and the walkthrough.

Our crew came in after the truck pulled away. Empty rooms, bare cabinets, and a long list. Inside the oven. Behind where the fridge had been. Shower grout. The tops of door frames. Closet shelves nobody thinks about until somebody with a clipboard is standing there. In Davids words, the team "did an incredible job making every corner sparkle."

That is what a move-in move-out cleaning service New York City tenants can actually count on looks like. Fast when the clock is against you, and detailed every single time. We handle move-out cleaning, move-in cleaning, and both ends of the same move, following the same move-out cleaning checklist landlords use at final inspections.

What we clean when you move

Every clean a move could need.

Moving in this city is a logistics puzzle. Cleaning should not be the hard part. Pick the service that fits your dates, book online, and we handle the rest. See pricing or how it works.

Both ends of the same move

Move in and Move out Cleaning.

This is the core of what we do. A move-in move-out cleaning service New York City renters book is not a regular tidy-up with a different name. The rooms are empty, so we can reach the places furniture usually hides. Inside the oven and broiler drawer. Inside and behind the fridge. Every cabinet and drawer, inside and out. Closet shelves and rods. Baseboards, door frames, light switches, outlet covers, window sills, and the radiator that has been collecting dust since November.

Bathrooms get the full treatment: tub, tile, grout, toilet base and behind it, vanity inside and out, mirror, and fixtures polished. Floors are vacuumed, then mopped edge to edge including under where the bed used to be. If your building charges for a dirty unit at inspection, this is the visit that keeps that off your bill.

Doing both sides at once? Lots of clients book the move-out clean for the old place and a move-in clean for the new one on the same week. Tell us both addresses and we'll line up the crews. Code MOVE30 takes $30 off either one.

Most of NYC lives in apartments

Apartment Cleaning for movers.

A brand new lease does not mean a clean apartment. The last tenant may have wiped the counters and called it done. Somebody else's hair is still in the bathroom vent, and the fridge shelves have a story to tell. Our teams treat a move-in like a reset: every surface you are about to touch with your own hands gets cleaned first.

Small city apartments are harder to clean well than big houses, not easier. Every inch works overtime and there is nowhere for grime to hide. Our crews know pre-war closets in the Village, converted lofts in Dumbo, and fifth-floor walk-ups in Ridgewood. Regular apartment cleaning is available after you settle in, too.

One small thing that saves people real headaches: file your change of address before the move with the USPS Mail for Movers form, then let us worry about the cabinets.

Deep cleaning a Hudson Square Manhattan kitchen before move-in

Top to bottom, inside out

Deep Cleaning.

Every move clean is built on a deep clean. That means we are not just wiping what shows. Inside appliances, behind them where the dust bunnies live, cabinet interiors, grout lines, vents, tops of door frames, and the baseboards that collect a grey line all year. If the unit sat empty for a few months, there is usually a layer of settled dust on everything, and that comes off too.

This matters for more then just looks. Closed-up city apartments trap dust and allergens fast, which the American Lung Association notes is a real issue for indoor air. If someone in the household has asthma or allergies, tell us at booking and the crew will focus on dust removal instead of just surface wiping. See what a deep cleaning includes.

Same-week turnovers Hosts & landlords

Guests out, guests in

AirBnB Cleaning Service.

Brian G. in Bayside had a messy party to clean up after and a new guest arriving. He booked a turnover and, in his words, we "delivered flawlessly." Short-term rental work runs on a clock, so we treat it like a move-out with a stricter deadline: linens swapped, kitchen reset, bathroom sanitized, trash out, and everything staged the way the listing photos show it.

Landlords and property managers use the same crews for tenant changeovers. One unit or six, same checklist every visit, and photos on request when you're not on site. Details live on our short-term rental cleaning, turnover cleaning, and rental property cleaning pages, plus the rental cleaning checklist.

Recurring cleaning keeping a Manhattan Valley apartment tidy after move-in
Same team, when possible Weekly · bi-weekly · monthly

After the boxes are gone

Recurring Cleaning.

A lot of people meet us on moving day and then keep us. Once a place starts out truly clean, keeping it that way is a much smaller job. Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly recurring plans put home care on the calendar before the to-do list eats the weekend, and recurring visits cost less per clean than one-offs.

The first visit on a new plan is usually a deep clean or the move-in clean you already booked. After that the crew follows the standard checklist each time, and we send the same team whenever the schedule allows. Pause it, move it, or cancel it from your account, per our rescheduling policy.

Everything else on the menu

More ways we help you move.

Not every move needs the same thing. Some people want one visit and nothing else. Some want a housekeeper every other Friday. Here is the rest of what you can book.

Standard Basic Cleaning

This is the everyday visit: kitchen counters, stovetop, sink, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts, bathrooms scrubbed and sanitized, all rooms dusted, mirrors and glass done, beds made, then vacuum and mop throughout with the trash taken out. It is the right pick when a place is already in decent shape and just needs a reset. Its not the right pick for an empty apartment before a walkthrough, because a standard basic cleaning does not include inside the oven, inside the fridge, or inside cabinets. Compare the two on our standard cleaning page.

Residential Cleaning

We only clean homes. Apartments, condos, co-ops, brownstone floors, walk-ups, lofts, and small houses in the outer boroughs. That focus is why our crews already know how your building probably works: where the service entrance is, which elevator we need to reserve, whether the super needs a heads-up. Residential cleaning across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens is the whole business, and you can see the full map on our service areas page or start from the Lily Maids home page.

Maid Service

Same trained, insured people, on a schedule you set. Our maid service clients get the identical room-by-room checklist every visit, so nothing gets skipped just because someone new is covering the route. You can leave notes for specific things, like skipping the guest room or using your own product on the marble. Add a note at booking, and it goes to the crew on their sheet.

Housekeeping Service

Housekeeping is a bigger idea than cleaning. Beds changed with fresh linens you leave out, laundry started, dishes handled, closets straightened, and the small resets that make a home feel run rather then just wiped down. People setting up a new apartment often start with a move-in clean and then keep a light housekeeping visit going while they unpack. Tell us what matters most and we'll build the visit around it.

One Time Cleaning

No plan, no commitment, no subscription. Book one visit for the reason you actually have: the walkthrough, the in-laws, the party aftermath, the post-renovation dust. James T. in Soho had construction debris everywhere and needed a workspace he could actually use, and one visit got him there. See one-time cleaning for scope and pricing.

Same Day Cleaning Service

Sometimes the move date slips and suddenly the clean has to happen today. We can often do it, and it depends entirely on what is open on that day's schedule and where you are. Call (646) 825-3550 and we will tell you straight whether a crew is free, instead of taking the booking and hoping. Details on the same-day cleaning page. Booking two or three days out always gives you more choice of arrival windows.

Pricing

Know the price before we knock.

A move clean costs more than a standard visit because it covers a lot more ground: inside appliances, inside cabinets, closets, and every baseboard. Your price depends on the size of the home, the number of bathrooms, the condition it is in, and any add-ons. You see the full flat rate before you confirm, never after. See full pricing >

$150 Standard cleanings start at. Move cleans are quoted by size and condition
$30 Off any move-in or move-out clean with code MOVE30

What moves the price up or down: square footage, how many bathrooms, whether the unit is fully empty or still half packed, how long it has been since the last real clean, and extras like interior windows or wall spot-cleaning. Building access matters a little too, since a reserved elevator window means we plan the route differently than a fourth-floor walk-up. One thing that is not on us: hauling out furniture or bulk trash. That needs a DSNY bulk item pickup scheduled seperately, and we are happy to clean the space once it is clear.

After the move

Keep it clean for less.

Plenty of clients book us for a move and then stay on a schedule. Recurring visits are priced lower per clean than one-time bookings, and the amount depends on how often you want us and the size of your home. Full terms live on the pricing page.

Weekly

  • Best per-visit rate
  • Same crew whenever possible
  • Nothing ever builds up

Bi-Weekly

  • Most popular schedule
  • Discounted vs one-time
  • Easy to skip a week

Monthly

  • Lightest commitment
  • Discount still applies
  • Good for smaller homes

The first visit on a new plan is normally a deep clean, or the move-in clean you already booked, so the crew starts from a clean baseline. After that, every visit follows the same every-visit checklist. Change, pause, or cancel any time under our cancellation and rescheduling policy.

Move-out cleaning crew working in a Greenpoint Brooklyn apartment
Greenpoint, Brooklyn Booked around the freight elevator

How moving day actually goes here

The NYC parts nobody warns you about.

Most buildings only allow moves on weekdays, in a set window, with the freight elevator reserved in advance. That window is the single biggest thing shaping when we can clean. Tell us your reservation time at booking and we schedule the crew to arrive after the truck is done, not during, so nobody is mopping around a dolly.

Other things worth telling us: whether there is a doorman or a super holding the keys, if the building requires a certificate of insurance on file, how many flights if it is a walk-up, and whether the elevator is out. None of it changes your price, it just changes how we plan. Walk-ups do not carry a surcharge here.

Also plan on the utilities. If the power is already shut off, we cannot vacuum, and if the water is off we cannot mop. It happens more often then people expect, so double check the shut-off date before you pick your cleaning slot. Our short preparing for your cleaning guide covers the rest, and if you are unsure what your landlord can legally hold back from a deposit, the HUD tenant rights overview is a solid starting point.

Questions and answers

The details before you book.

These are the questions movers ask us most. Every answer is open by default, so nothing is hidden behind a click. Still curious? Our full FAQ page goes deeper, and you can always call us.

What is the difference between a move-out clean and a regular clean? 01

Scope. A regular visit cleans what you use day to day: counters, appliance exteriors, bathrooms, floors, dusting. A move clean goes inside things, because the home is empty. Inside the oven, inside and behind the fridge, inside every cabinet and drawer, closet shelves, baseboards, door frames, window sills, and switch plates. It takes longer and costs more for that reason. Compare the two side by side on our standard cleaning and deep cleaning pages.

Does the apartment need to be empty? 02

For a move-out, yes, or as close to it as you can get. We cannot clean inside a cabinet that is still full or mop under a bed that is still there. For a move-in, empty is ideal too, which is why most people book us for the day before the movers come. If a few boxes are stacked in one room, that is fine, just tell us at booking so the crew knows what to expect.

Do you bring cleaning supplies and a vacuum? 03

Yes, all of it. Supplies, cloths, mops, and vacuums come with the crew, so you can pack yours. If you want green products because of kids, pets, or allergies, ask for EPA Safer Choice certified products in your booking notes and we will use them. We do need working power and water on site.

How long does a move clean take? 04

A studio or one-bedroom is usually a half day. A larger apartment or a house in the outer boroughs can run most of a day, sometimes with a bigger crew instead of a longer visit. Condition matters as much as size: a unit that has not had a deep clean in two years takes longer than one that has. We give you the estimated window when you book so you can plan around your elevator reservation.

Can you clean on the same day I move out? 05

Often, yes, depending on that day's schedule and your location. The usual plan is movers in the morning, us in the afternoon. Book online or call (646) 825-3550 and we will confirm what is actually free rather than guessing. More on the same-day cleaning page. Booking two or three days ahead gives you the best pick of arrival times.

Do I need to be there to let you in? 06

No, and most people are not. Doorman handoff, a super with a key, a lockbox, or a smart-lock code all work fine. Put the access instructions in your booking notes and we handle the front desk ourselves. If your building needs a certificate of insurance on file before we can work, let us know and we will get it sent over.

Will this get my security deposit back? 07

We clean to the standard on our move-out cleaning checklist, which is built around what landlords check at a final walkthrough. What we cannot do is promise a deposit outcome, because that also depends on damage, paint, unpaid rent, and your lease terms. What we can promise is a clean that removes cleanliness from the argument.

What if something was missed? 08

Tell us within 24 hours and we come back and re-clean the areas in question at no charge. That applies to move cleans the same as every other visit. Read the full satisfaction guarantee to see how it works, or just call us and we will sort it out.

What you get out of it

One less thing on moving week.

Whether it is a one-time clean before a walkthrough or an ongoing schedule after you settle in, the goal is the same: a home that is ready to use the moment we leave.

Leaving

  • Cleanliness off the dispute list
  • No midnight scrubbing

Arriving
